Recognising an Insights Discovery Type: The Observer
Are you precise, cautious and disciplined, and conscientious in work which requires attention and accuracy? Do you have highly developed critical perception abilities and emphasise the importance of drawing conclusions and basing actions on factual data? Are you an objective thinker, who combines intuitive information with the facts they have gathered in a most effective way. It is likely that you lead with Cool Blue energy based on the Insights Discovery model of preferences developed from the work of Dr Carl Gustav Jung. You like doing things right have correctness and predictability to things that you do with an innate need to understand the world around you. You tend to influence people by logical arguments and factual data and under pressure you may find yourself getting worried or bogged down with information.
In life you find yourself standing back and viewing life objectively and are likely to remain calm in times of crisis. Not overly concerned with money or status with a high sense of integrity and doing what is right. At times you may find yourself acting defensively and not always able to express yourself.
Things people might be heard saying about you are:
“He/she is knowledgeable about almost every subject” or “he/she has a quiet unassuming manner that sees things differently”.
If this sounds like you, you are likely to be an Observer in the Insights Discovery model of personality types – an Observer is Jung’s Introverted Thinking type.
Your preference is towards introversion and the way you make decisions is by thinking. Introverts are typically perceived as more reserved or reflective and they draw their energy internally rather that the world around them. You way you make decisions is formal, detached, analytic and objective
In a culture where being social and outgoing are prized above all else, it can be difficult to be an introvert. Introverts bring extraordinary talents and abilities to the world, and should be encouraged, to understand the world of introversion better I would highly recommend watching a TED Talk from Susan Cain on the ‘Power of Introverts’.
