Your Guide to the Insights Discovery Colour Energy Model and the 8-Types
The Insights Discovery online evaluator generates a unique profile, unique to every individual based on your individual preferences on the personality traits of Thinking, Feeling, Introversion and Extraversion from the work of Dr Carl Jung (1875-1961). The origins of personality trait theory date back to ancient Greece and Hippocrates. Hippocrates observed four distinct groups of characteristics, which he labelled the ‘Four Humours’. He determined that once he could identify what type of ‘humour’ a person had, he could predict their likely behaviour.
The Insights Discovery system uses four distinct colour energies which you can apply in your daily life to help you understand why you behave in the way you do, and why other people might behave differently.
People with a preference for Fiery Red energy are extroverted and have high energy. They are action and results oriented and always in motion. They will approach others in a direct, authoritative manner, radiating a desire for power and control. An individual leading with Fiery Red would be an extraverted thinker.
People with a preference for Sunshine Yellow energy are strongly extroverted, radiant, and friendly. They are usually positive and concerned fun and good personable relationships. They will approach others in a persuasive, democratic manner, radiating a desire for sociability. An individual leading with Sunshine Yellow would be an extraverted senser.
People with a preference for Earth Green energy focus on values and depth in relationships, they are generally non confrontational and avoid conflict. They want others to be able to rely on them. They prefer democratic relations that value the individual and are personal in style, radiating a desire for understanding. An individual leading with Earth Green would be an introverted senser.
People with a preference for Cool Blue energy are introverted and have a desire to know and understand the world around them, they are the critical thinkers and require the data and the facts. They prefer written communication in order to maintain clarity and precision, radiating a desire for analysis. An individual leading with Cool Blue would be introverted thinkers.
REMEMBER when working with Insights Discovery….
- Treat everyone as unique.
- There is no right or wrong personality types or insights colours required to be leaders or great managers.
- Everyone should appreciate different perceptions or points of view, in Jung’s words ‘appreciate the otherness of the other’.
- The behavioural model is about preference not capability, individuals are able to ‘dial up’ and ‘dial down’ colour energies.
- Don’t stereotype based on preference on the model.
